Sights worth visiting in Kiev:

• Saint Sophia Cathedral

The oldest stone church in the Kievan Rus. It was founded in 1017 and since then it has never been destroyed. The exterior of the cathedral was many times reconstructed, but the interior decoration has 260 square meters of previously existing 600 square meters original mosaics that survived from the 11th century; you may also enjoy 3,000 square meters of frescoes of 6,000 square meters previously existing. • Kiev-Pechersk Lavra

It is the first monastery in Rus, founded a little later than Sophia Cathedral – in 1051 by the monk Anthony, who was the first to settle on a hill in a cave; for a long time his life there was very ascetic. Today there are over 20 churches on the territory of the monastery, 6 of them are underground.

•  Museum of World War II. This is a huge majestic territory telling about the same huge tragedy that happened in 1939-1941. The museum has outdoor exhibits featuring military equipment, tanks, helicopters and military aircrafts. If you want you may even sit in some of them. Exhibits located in the building of Museum tell about years of war and its battles, the cities of the former USSR where the most furious fights took place, about the consequences and destinies of people who were victims of this plague.

• Mezhyhirya

The location that was opened for public only 3 years ago after the escape of the former corrupt president Viktor Yanukovich, became one of the favorite places both for Kiev citizens and guests of the city. With a territory of 140 hectares, magnificent park with a bunch of lakes and fountains, golf course, zoo, garage for 70 cars (45 cars in the present), bath complex, health center, gym, 4 storied palace of the former president, another building which is a former residence, guest house that is also called Putin’s, huge ship-restaurant for parties and much more – this place will certainly impress each and every visitor. Those who come here for the first time can’t believe their eyes – the residence of the former president amazes and astonishes.

We will not mention Maidan and Kiev main street Khreshchatyk – you will anyway get there, either you want it or not.

Of course, it’s about Ukrainian cuisine restaurants.

Low-cost option – if eating for you is only a necessary process to sustain life, and not a cult, if you are not a gourmet, then you will definitely like Puzata Khata (Ukrainian cafe). It’s delicious, cheap, fast and useful. This is not fast food, but healthy Ukrainian food. It is very similar to canteen, has good service and a very low prices. The price of three-course dinner does not exceed $6 (prices of spring 2017).

Average check – opened relatively recently, but already well-loved restaurant Ostannya Barikada. Ostannya Barikada is the museum of the three Ukrainian revolutions of the new hour.

Ostannya Barikada is 100% Ukrainian cuisine and the first 100% Ukrainian bar. Very interesting place, with its own sense and Ukrainian soul. What does fit the above categories: try the cable car from the Mikhailovsky Monastery to Poshtova Square, walk along the Embankment, go to the Roshen brand store – this is the factory of our current president Petro Poroshenko, buy chocolate sweets for you or as a gift. In summer, be sure to visit one of the beaches or the beach party of the Kyiv’s South Coast, go to the Opera, the average ticket costs $9.
