Chernobyl tours in Ukraine

How many movies and programs about Chernobyl have you already watched? After one more movie, you have more questions than answers? In this case you should go directly to the source.

Excursion to Chernobyl

During the excursion to the Chernobyl nuclear power plant you will see the shelter/sarcophagus of the 4th power unit where the destroyed reactor is located, the dead city of Pripyat and the Red Forest where the trees became reddish orange due to radiation.
To date, radiation that you can get during a trip is approximately equal to the amount of radiation that a person receives when taking an X-ray.

Program of the tour to Chernobyl:

  • 8 am-10 am Transfer from Kiev to the Chernobyl zone.
  • 10 am-4pm Excursion to the Chernobyl zone.
  • 5pm-7pm Transfer back to Kiev.
The program also includes a visit to the abandoned giant Duga radar plant. For the grandeur of its size this gigantic design is worthy of being included in the list of Wonders of the World. Duga is a monument to the Cold War and one of the most expensive objects of the now defunct USSR Empire.
During the excursion we will visit the “capital” of the Exclusion Zone – the city of Chernobyl. Slowly we will walk along the overgrown streets of Pripyat with lonely houses looking out from behind the trees… In Pripyat we will also visit the central square – the Palace of Culture “Energetik”, the department store, the hotel “Polesie”; medical unit No. 126 where the first liquidators were admitted in 1986; amusement park with unspoken city symbol – its Ferris wheel; cafe “Pripyat”, where the atomic power engineers celebrated the opening of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in 1977, and many other places…
It is impossible to book a tour to Chernobyl at a moment’s notice, only 1-2 weeks in advance – minimum! Also it is not possible to visit the Exclusion zone on your own; you can do it only accompanied by agency staff having special permission.

Other City Tours around Kiev:

Chernobyl is a ghost town where the time has died down on April 26, 1986. Only the Pripyat River with its current reminds that life goes on, and the cities of Chernobyl and Pripyat live their “special” life. Today many associate the word “CHERNOBYL” with the tragedy at the Chernobyl nuclear power station, the zone of alienation, radiation, and even with the popular computer game and the same-named series of books “S.T.A.L.K.E.R.”. With every passing year the Chernobyl exclusion zone, which has been isolated from the civilian population for more than a quarter of a century, has been turning into a unique and attractive world. Chernobyl tours will be especially interesting for those who are tired of the roughened routine and jammed educational and cognitive trips around Ukraine, as well as for those who are willing to get away from reality getting into the skin of real and not online stalker. Chernobyl tours will also be good for those who at least temporarily want to run away from the world and become a hero of one of the movies about the end of the world.

Pripyat city

During the tour to Pripyat we will open the secret of “ZONES” of Chernobyl, we will learn to recognize and defeat ephemeral and insidious radiation. Having visited Chernobyl zone at least once you will view the life different.
A visit to the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone is a journey you will remember forever. This place attracts tourists from all over the world with its unique atmosphere. In 2017 over 50,000 foreign tourists (not counting local ones) visited the exclusion zone.
During the tour you will learn the details of the Chernobyl accident, the current status of the exclusion zone, walk the streets of Pripyat – a ghost town without inhabitants, where the spirit of the Soviet Union is everywhere; you will also make many interesting photos. Pripyat is the most famous ghost town in the world.
This is where the gigantic Duga-1 radar plant is located, a super-secret development of the Soviet defense industry, which has no analogues around the world. A trip to the Zone is a visual aid on what will happen if humanity disappears from the earth. Former streets turn into forests, human dwellings overgrow and collapse. The territory is full of different creatures. This is the real version of movies about catastrophes and all post-apocalypse that became so popular nowadays.
But not all the territory of the Zone is dangerous.
Therefore, excursions to Chernobyl are absolutely safe.
To date, the radiological situation in the Exclusion Zone of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant is almost normal. It is still dangerous to live here all the time, but the dose of radiation you get during one-day visit to Pripyat is equal to the one you get flying airplane to any of the neighboring countries. Do not believe it? Next time take a dosimeter with you when you fly somewhere. After the trip, compare the received indications with those that were in the Zone. We are sure that the result will surprise you.
Animals and plants have adapted well to this habitat. This in turn affected the flora and fauna of the Exclusion Zone. Scientists have found out that the impact of radiation is unprecedently inferior to negative impact of human activities such as industry, use of vehicles and agricultural activities.
Today, tourists from all over the world come to Chernobyl. Gradually, the Zone of Alienation becomes the most interesting tourist highlight of Ukraine.
